Today I would like to share the pattern for the small doily I designed, "Gathering Fans". Please feel free to make this doily; however, remember this doily is copyrighted and is for your use to crochet only.

Materials Needed:

1 ball size 10 crochet thread - any color

#7 Steel Hook

Stitches Used:

sl st - slip stitch

ch - chain

sc - single crochet

dc - double crochet

P - picot ( ch 3 sl st in top and side bar of previous st)

V-st - V-stitch (beg V-st:  ch 5 dc in same st; V-st:  dc, ch 2, dc in same st)

4dc cl - 4 double crochet cluster (dc 4 times holding the last 2 loops on hook

     yo and pull thru all loops)

sh - shell (beg sh:  ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc in space indicated; sh: 2 dc, ch 2,

     2 dc in space indicated)

gr - group

NOTES: 1) Beg ch-3 always counts as first dc.

Pattern:

Beg: Ch 5, sl st to join.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, 12 sc in loop, sl st in beg sc to join. (12 sc)

Rnd 2: Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1) * dc in next dc, ch 1, repeat from * around; ending with sl st in 3^rd ch of beg ch-3. (12 dc, 12 ch-1 sps)

Rnd 3: Sl st into ch-1 sp, beg sh; sh in each ch-1 sp around; join with sl st in top of ch-3 of beg sh. (12 shells)

Rnd 4: Sl st to ch-2 sp, ch 1, sc in same sp; ch 4, sc in next ch-2 sp, around; in last lp

join with ch 1, dc in beg sc. (12 sc, 12 ch-3 sps)

Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in lp, ch 5, sc in next lp, in last lp join with ch 1, dc in beg sc. (12 sc, 12 ch-4 sps)

Rnd 6: *Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in same sp, ch 5, 2 dc in next ch sp, repeat from * around, join with sl st in beg dc. (12 2-dc grs, 12 ch-5 sps)

Rnd 7: *Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in same sp, dc in next dc, ch 5, 2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next dc, ch 5, repeat from *around; to join sl st in top of beg ch-3. (12 3-dc grs; 12 ch-5 sps)

Rnd 8: *Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, ch 5, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, ch 5, repeat from * around; join with sl st to beg ch-3. (12 4-dc grs; 12 ch-5 sps)

Rnd 9: *Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in same st, 1 dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 5, 1 dc in next 4 dc, ch 5, repeat from * around, join with st in top of beg ch-3. (12 6-dc grs; 12 ch-5 grs)

Rnd 10: Ch 4 (counts as 1 dc + ch 1), [dc in next dc, ch 1] 5 times, ch 5, *4 dc cl using next 4 dc, ch 5, [dc in next dc, ch 1] 6 times, ch 5; repeat from * around, join with sl st in 3^rd ch 0f beg ch-4.

Rnd 11: Ch 5 (counts as 1 dc + ch 2), [dc in next dc, ch 2] 5 times, ch 3, *V-st in top of cl, ch 4, [dc in next dc, ch 2] 6 times, ch 4, repeat from * around; join with sl st in 3^rd ch of beg ch-5.

Rnd 12: Ch 6 (counts as 1 dc, ch 3), [ dc in next dc, ch 3] 5 times, ch 2, *V–st in V-st, ch 3, [dc in next dc, ch 3] 6 times, ch 3, V-st in V-st, ch 3, repeat from * around; join with sl st in 3^rd ch of beg ch-6.

Rnd 13: Ch 7 (counts as 1 dc, ch 4), [dc in next dc, ch 4] 5 times, ch 1, *V-st in V-st, ch 2 [dc in next dc, ch 4] 6 times, ch 2, V-st in V-st, repeat from * around, join with sl st to ch 3 of beg ch-7.

Rnd 14: Ch 1, sc in same st, in next ch-4 sp, make 1 hdc, 3 dc, 1 hdc, sc in dc, ch 3, *V-st in V-st, ch 3, sc in next dc, in ch-4 sp make 1 hdc, 3 dc, 1 hdc, sc in dc, ch 3, repeat from * around; join with cl st in beg sc.

Rnd 15: Sl st to center dc of next gr, ch 1, sc in same st, [ch 6 sc in center dc of next gr] 4 times, ch 5, *V-st in V-st, ch 5, [ sc in center dc of next gr] 5 times, ch 3, repeat from * around, join with sl st in beg sc.

Rnd 16: Sl st in next 3 chs, ch 1, sc in lp, [ch 6, sc in next lp] 3 times, ch 6, V-st, ch 2, V-st in V-st, ch 6, sc in lp 4 times, repeat from * around, to join sl st in beg sc.

Rnd 17: Sl st in next 3 chs, ch 1 sc in lp, [ ch 7, sc in next lp] 2 times, *ch 7, V-st in V-st, V-st in ch-2 sp, V-st in V-st, ch 7, sc in next lp, repeat from * around, to join sl st in beg sc.

Rnd 18: Sl st in next 4 chs, ch 1, sc in lp, *ch 8, sc in next lp, ch 8, [V-st in V-st, ch 3] 2 times , V-st in next V-st, ch 8, repeat from * around, to join sl st in beg sc.

Rnd 19: Sl st in next 4 chs, ch 1, sc in lp, *ch 9, [V-st in V-st, ch 4] 2 times, V-st in next V-st, ch 9, repeat from * around, to join sl st in beg sc.

Rnd 20: Ch 3, dc, P, 2 dc in same st, ch 5, sc, P, sc in lp, ch-5, [in next V-st make 2 dc, P, 2 dc, ch 6] 2 times, 2 dc, P, 2 dc in next V-st, ch 5, sc, P, sc in lp, ch 5, repeat from * around ending with sl st in top of beg ch-3. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

ALTERNATE ENDING FOR THOSE WHO DON’T LIKE PICOTS

Fasten off. Weave in ends.
